Climate change threatens the world peace and security. Scientific evidences clearly link climate change to greenhouse gases emissions like CO2. This project will evaluate the effect of technology convergence on the efficiency of an industrially relevant CO2 utilization process and validate an effective protocol toward greenhouse gas mitigation based on conversion of CO2 into high added-value molecules.

TANGO Graphical Abstract

Considering a model reaction, the cyclic carbonates production from epoxides and CO2, catalysis, nanotechnology, flow chemistry, magnetism and aerosol technologies will be integrated in a novel process to maximize process intensification through continuous reactor operation and catalyst recovery and recycle.

This project is supported by the Science for Peace and Security program of NATO, and deals with a technology convergence approach to mitigate climate change caused by CO2 emissions.
