General Description of the Institution

Cadi Ayyad University is a university in Marrakesh and one of the largest universities in Morocco. Cadi Ayyad University was established in 1978 and operates 13 institutions in the Marrakesh-Safi region of Morocco in four main cities, including Kalaa of Sraghna, Essaouira and Safi in addition to Marrakesh.

 

The Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of Marrakech (FST) is a teaching and research public institution of higher education of sciences and techniques. It was created in 1991 and specializes in engineering and sciences and Technologies.

Field of expertise

The Innovative Materials, Energy and Sustainable Development Laboratory (IMED-Lab) is a federation of four research entities accredited by Cadi Ayyad University. It was created in 2019 to be in line with the research strategy of Cadi Ayyad University to implement a policy of grouping expertise for high visibility and to form a competitive "task force" to address research and development issues and future societal challenges.

The objective of the association of the four teams in the same research laboratory is to work on the development of research within the new structure by the mutualization of human and material resources. These four teams are:

1. Team of Chemistry of Materials and Environment

2. Team of Organometallic and Macromolecular Chemistry - Composite Materials

3. Team of optoelectronic materials study

4. Condensed matter and nanostructures team.

The research themes developed within IMED-Lab are mainly around:

1. Materials for clean energy

2. Valorization of mineral and vegetal resources, mining, agricultural and industrial  by-products for a sustainable development

3. Modeling the properties of molecules and materials

4. Catalysis, Organometallic and Macromolecular Chemistry - composite materials
